James attended Angelo State University and graduated in 2002 with both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Taxation. After college, he joined a regional CPA firm in Odessa, Texas as a tax accounting associate.

In 2005, James continued his work experience with another regional CPA firm, where he was promoted to manager of the Tax Department. In this position, he supervised all aspects of the Tax Department, including corporate, partnership, and individual returns, tax planning and research, as well as work in estates, trusts, and not-for-profit organizations. Inclusive of his responsibilities as Tax Manager, James also performed audit, review, and attest work for publicly traded companies before the Securities and Exchange Commission, with duties ranging from Assistant Auditor, Audit Manager, and Reviewing Auditor.

With over twenty years of experience, James specializes in providing tax planning and consulting services for businesses and successful individuals in a broad range of industries. His specialties include construction, inventory and equipment-based businesses, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

In his free time, James enjoys golf, traveling on his motorcycle, and hiking. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Odessa.
